My Date Night Dress

I made a dress to wear on a date night with my husband.  We were celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary.  We had a great night.  First, we dropped the kids off at a local kids night out event.  Then, we went out to a steakhouse for dinner and enjoyed a leisurely meal without worrying that the baby might melt down at any moment ;)  After that, we had massages and strolled around the bookstore for coffee and magazines.  It was a lovely evening and I'm so glad we made the time for it.

Here's what I wore, remember, I'm in Texas so it's a balmy 90 degrees in the evenings here right now ;)





It's This pattern.  I was super impressed with Lekala.  I got my extremely reasonably priced patterns in no time.  When I had an issue downloading the sewing instructions, I received a speedy response and copies of the instructions were emailed to me.  I have a 34H bust so dresses involve crazy amounts of alterations to commercial patterns.  With Lekala, I just included the measurements they asked for and the dress fit perfectly with no alterations :)

The Zelda Quilt

This one is from a pattern from Emily of Carolina Patchworks.

It was for my husband, has a hand dyed by me backing and was long arm quilted.  He sleeps under it every night.  Our bed is literally half zombie and half geektastic.

I quilted each area differently, if you look closely, you can see that this area is full of heart containers and tri forces :)

Mama's Got a Brand New Bag

I needed a new diaper bag.  I was having a hard time deciding on a pattern though, until Heather, of Fiberosity came for a visit and brought her Anna Maria Horner Multi Tasker Tote with her.  I knew right away that it was the perfect tote to shlep my kids' stuff around in.  The next step was fabric.  I had just been into Remnants the other day and knew that Jessica had just gotten in Valori Wells' Karavan line of fabrics.  Although the white fabric with rainbow elephants enticed me the most, I went with the pink elephants for the main portion of the bag.  I think the pink will show less dirt than snow white will over time ;)

The bag came together super cute:

I decided to make a few little accessories to match

I'm super pleased with it and have been toting it all over town!
