I have to say it was a good day

Today was pretty darn good :)

I thought of a project at about 10PM last night and started it this morning. My kids love my cheap tablecloth design wall. They spend ages sticking fabric scraps to it when I sew.

For those who don't know, there is a new quilt shop here in Austin. It's called Remnants:fiber[culture] and it's lovely! Jessica, the owner, loves kids and it shows. She consistently welcomes kids with open arms and it's honestly a breath of fresh air for this mom of 4. Most quilt stores act either slightly wary of or begrudgingly accepting of young kiddos. Few make the littlest guests feel included and important. Jessica has been working hard to make a little play space in her shop so we decided to bring some toys and things by to include in that area.

I have three Ikea easels in my garage waiting to find new homes and I thought Jessica might like one. However, I don't let kids with chalk and crayons within range of my fabrics. So it needed to be a less messy activity to work in the shop. I decided to cover the chalkboard side of the easel with batting using a glue gun. I decked out the edges in ribbons, yo yos, and buttons. Then, I grabbed a bunch of fun shaped scraps to be used on it.

And, just for fun, Piece Out

Afterwards, we went to Wendy's where my kids discovered they like dipping fries into frosties. Lastly, Tyler enjoyed watching his big siblings chase bubbles around the yard from his Bumbo seat.

And now, Kevin is home, and the weekend begins!!!
